Dillon
Colorado Information
Oddly enough the original Town of Dillon now sits
at the bottom of lake Dillon. The small town consisting
of a trading post and various other buildings sat on
the banks of the blue, snake and ten mile rivers as
they converged to form one river. In the early
1960’s the Denver water board needed a reservoir
to supply water to the many residents along the front
range of the Rocky Mountains so a dam was built and
the town of Dillon was moved to its current location
on the northeast side of the Dillon Reservoir. Many
of the original town buildings were moved but a few
still remain and are now home to the 50,000 rainbow
trout that the Colorado Division of Wildlife annually
stock the reservoir with.
Dillon now features Summit County’s only bowling
alley and multi-plex movie theatre. It offers a full
service marina and boasts the Dillon Yacht club which
is the highest yacht club in North America sitting at
9,017 feet elevation. There are many shopping and dining
opportunities as well as 2 brew pubs. The beautiful lake
Dillon outdoor amphitheatre sits on the banks of the
reservoir offering fantastic views and a variety of summer
entertainment venues.
Dillon is with in a 35 minute drive to 5 world class
ski resorts and is provides many affordable real estate
